Alex Zanardi’s fighting spirit and humor endures, even after testing crash

If you’re a racing fan, you’ve no doubt heard of Alex Zanardi and his inspirational story of recovery. The two-time CART champion had a big 2014, as he took on the Ironman triathlon and also posted an incredible “touch the sky” video highlighting his goals and aspirations.

Zanardi, who has focused on hand cycling and also gotten back behind the wheel of a race car in a BMW Z4 GT3 in the Blancpain Sprint Series, had what would look to be a minor setback in a testing crash in preparation for his upcoming season.

Zanardi posted this picture to Twitter, noting he hurt his collarbone. But in typical Zanardi upbeat fashion, he joked that the rail he hit got the worst of it more than he did.

It’s that level of positivity that continues to endure and keep Zanardi going, among other things, and remains great to see.
