It’s not often that we get to see the talks and calls that take place behind closed doors in motorsport, but Nissan NISMO has released a rather unique video doing exactly that.
Earlier this week, the Japanese manufacturer confirmed a further three drivers for its return to LMP1 racing in 2015, with Michael Krumm, Jann Mardenborough and Lucas Ordonez getting call-ups for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Ordonez will race in the third Nissan for two rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship, completing an incredible journey that started with him winning a competition for PlayStation racers.
The Spaniard has enjoyed a successful racing career since his GT Academy win in 2009, but received the biggest news of his career earlier this week: he will be racing for Nissan in the LMP1 class at Le Mans.
Ordonez was told that he would be conducting an interview with Nissan on his Super GT campaign in Japan, but the organizers had other ideas, instead surprising him with a phone call that confirmed his call up for Le Mans.
“Amazing man!” Ordonez said after finding out. “Good news! Le Mans in LMP1. Wow. That makes my day, my week and my season for sure.”
