Force India officially reveals new VJM08, plans Friday track debut

While Force India launched its new livery and a portion of its new car in Mexico City last month, it did not fully reveal its entire new car.

It has now taken the wraps off of the full new car, the VJM08, on Wednesday. The new Mercedes-powered car is slated to run for the first time on Friday in Barcelona, following its final preparation in the garage

The team tested last week at Barcelona with the previous year VJM07.

“It has progressed well over the last few days and the car has now been fired up at the factory,” Force India COO Otmar Szafnauer said in a release.

“That’s always the key moment when the car truly comes to life. We have seen a tremendous effort from every department over the last few months to get us to this stage and we’re looking forward to seeing the car take to the track later this week.”

Force India is yet to confirm its driver lineup for the test, but Nico Hulkenberg will no doubt be chomping at the bit to get more laps in.

He completed 36 laps only in Barcelona last week in the old car, which is right now the fewest overall of the 21 drivers who have tested this preseason.
