Marciello confirms FP1 outing for Sauber in Malaysia

New Sauber test and reserve driver Raffaele Marciello will make his first Grand Prix weekend appearance in free practice one at Malaysia.

The Ferrari Driver Academy member tested for Ferrari over the winter at Abu Dhabi. He’ll also race for Trident this year in GP2 this season.

It is yet to be determined whether he’ll fill in for Felipe Nasr or Marcus Ericsson, either of Sauber’s two new race drivers for the year.

Sauber has had one other bit of news come down in the last 24 hours, with the confirmation of the Silanna international semiconductor company as principal partner. Silanna logos will be visible on the car’s front and rear wing endplates.
