Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene made no secret of his delight following Sebastian Vettel’s victory in Malaysia today, but called on the team to remain focused so it can meet its target of two or three wins in 2015.
Arrivabene and Vettel both celebrated their first wins as part of the new regime at Ferrari on Sunday after the team sprung a surprise on Mercedes to end its two-year long victory drought.
Arrivabene called on the team to remain focused, but believes that this result proves that the team is back at the top end of the sport once again.
“We still have to keep our feet on the ground and look forward for the next races, but with that I’m very, very happy,” Arrivabene told NBCSN.
“Especially for the guys that work in Marnallo and here very, very hard to give Ferrari the position they deserve.
“I said to you in Barcelona ‘Ferrari is Formula 1’ and we are back now.”
Arrivabene is refusing to get ahead of himself though, having set a target of two or three wins during pre-season testing.
“Yesterday, after qualifying, and especially this morning when we had a meeting relating to the strategy, we started to dream,” he said. “We kept our feet on the ground.
“I said two or three wins this year. At the moment it is just one, so we have to keep focused.”
