Will Stevens unable to start Malaysian Grand Prix

Manor’s hopes of getting both cars on the grid for today’s Malaysian Grand Prix have been dashed after a fuel system problem has sidelined Will Stevens ahead of today’s race.

The ex-Marussia operation managed to get its cars out on track for the first time in 2015 during practice at Sepang on Friday, having failed to take any part in the Australian Grand Prix weekend.

Stevens was also sidelined in qualifying by the problem, but was then given dispensation to race by the race stewards as he had been competitive enough during practice.

His teammate, Roberto Merhi, did manage to post a time in qualifying, but also required an allowance from the stewards after missing the 107% time.

On Sunday, Manor confirmed ahead of the race that Stevens would not be lining up on the grid due to the fuel system issue, leaving Merhi to fight alone for the team.

The Malaysian Grand Prix is live on NBCSN and Live Extra from 2:30a ET, with the race kicking off at 3a.
