Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires driver Michael Johnson remains in critical condition but is improving every day, a week after his practice accident in St. Petersburg.

The latest medical update provided by his family is listed below, in its entirety:


The following is a medical update on Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires driver Michael Johnson of JDC Motorsports, who made contact with the Turn 3 wall in the opening practice session of the Allied Building Products Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on Fri., Mar. 27, 2015.

Amy Koler, MD, FACS, Trauma Surgeon, stated that Michael Johnson is still in the critical care unit but improving daily.

Johnson’s father, Tim Johnson, also released the following statement:

“First of all, I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support for our family during this difficult time and appreciate the continued concern. Michael remains in critical condition but is comfortable and stable.”
