The 2015 Formula 1 season continues on Friday morning in Shanghai with the first free practice session for the Chinese Grand Prix, albeit Thursday night in the U.S.

A mix of fast sweepers, tight corners and one of the longest straights on the calendar – the run from Turns 13 to 14 – are staples of the Shanghai International Circuit.

Following his upset win in Malaysia, Sebastian Vettel has his first shot at a chance to win two Grands Prix in a row with Ferrari, and his first since his record-setting run of nine in a row the second half of 2013.

It may only be first practice, but how well Vettel and Ferrari get on here compared to the Mercedes AMG Petronas teammates may well give an indication of how the weekend will progress.

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg went 1-2 in last year’s Chinese Grand Prix, and this is also the track where Rosberg bagged his first career victory in 2012.

GP2 champion Jolyon Palmer will make his F1 weekend debut with Lotus in FP1; otherwise the field of 20 remains the same heading into the weekend.

Here’s our full grand prix preview for China and Will Buxton’s Paddock Pass.
