Ricky Taylor, Auberlen on pole for TUDOR at Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ricky Taylor (Prototype) and Bill Auberlen (GT Le Mans) scored the pole positions for Saturday’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Tequila Patron Sports Car Showcase, the 100-minute, third round of the season.

Taylor emerged from a neck-and-neck battle with Scott Pruett to deliver his first pole of the season for the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, with a time of 1:14.907 eclipsing Pruett’s best after three back-and-forth exchanges.

Taylor kept his foot in it with an even faster lap of 1:14.790 to secure the pole. He’ll co-drive with his brother Jordan Taylor on Saturday.

Pruett will start second in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley-Ford that he’ll share with Joey Hand. The Nos. 5 (Action Express), 90 (VisitFlorida.com) and 31 (Action Express) Corvette DPs completed the top five on the grid.

Auberlen extended the record run of polesitters in GT Le Mans, as the 14th different polesitter in as many races since the series’ inception in 2014.

The Redondo Beach, Calif. native took the No. 25 BMW Team RLL BMW Z4 GTE to a lap of 1:17.268 ahead of his teammate John Edwards in the No. 24 car.

Giancarlo Fisichella was next in the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari F458 Italia ahead of the pair of Corvette C7.Rs.
