LONG BEACH, Calif. – Only one day after Rocky Moran Jr. was announced to replace Carlos Huertas in the No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda, Moran Jr. will now be sidelined for the rest of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend due to a broken thumb sustained on Friday in a practice accident.
Conor Daly, the promising young American, has been drafted in as a last-minute replacement. It will be his second Verizon IndyCar Series start (2013 Indianapolis 500) and his first on the streets of Long Beach since winning the 2011 Indy Lights race here.
Third practice is now underway from the streets of Long Beach.
Fabio Quartararo won the Catalan Grand Prix, recapturing the MotoGP points lead and his championship momentum Sunday with his third victory of the season.
Quartararo, who opened the season with his first two career victories in the premier series, took his first checkered flag in two months by winning at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya aboard his Petronas Yamaha SRT.
The French rider opened an eight-point lead (108-100) over Joan Mir, who finished second Sunday. Alex Rins was third.
After winning the previous race, Maverick Vinales slipped to 18 points behind Quartararo after a ninth-place finish.
