Lucas di Grassi believes that the upcoming Monaco ePrix will be a “massive event” for all involved in Formula E as he looks to extend his lead at the top of the drivers’ championship.
Di Grassi won the first ever Formula E race at the beginning of the season in Beijing and has three further podium finishes to his name from the opening six races, giving him a one point lead at the top of the championship standings.
The championship heads to Monaco on May 9 for the first European race of the season, and is already a sell-out event.
The circuit uses part of the F1 track that will host the Monaco Grand Prix two weeks later, meaning that Formula E will get the first taste of the newly-resufaced tarmac.
“I can call it my hometown race because I’ve been living in Monaco now for five years,” di Grassi said. “I’ve been actually cycling the track many times. They resurfaced all of it, so it looks really amazing.
“The track is also a bit different, it’s a different version from Formula 1 and the other support series. Nevertheless, it’s really, really nice.
“I think we’re going to have a massive event there and I’m really looking forward to it.”
