BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – So Scott Dixon is driving the No. 9 Coca-Cola Chevrolet this weekend for Target Chip Ganassi Racing at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama (3 p.m. ET, NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra).
“Coca-Cola Chevrolet” has a nice ring to it. And the marketing for the name-branded “#ShareACoke” message has been on point at Barber Motorsports Park.
Both the NBCSN announce team (Leigh Diffey, Townsend Bell and Steve Matchett in the booth, Kevin Lee, Kelli Stavast, Marty Snider and Robin Miller on pit road) and the IndyCar Radio announce team (Paul Page, Davey Hamilton, Mark Jaynes, Nick Yeoman, Dave Furst) have got special bottles printed with their names on them.
But the Coke love wasn’t just for the broadcast teams. Every member of the media center also got one of the standard “Share a Coke with Scott” bottles, as evidenced by my working station here this weekend.
All told, it’s great activation, it’s cool to see and it makes for a memorable moment of a weekend that we’ll be talking about down the road.
