Westbrook, Valiante score TUDOR win in Monterey

All four classes of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship were back in action this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, with Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante emerging victorious overall and in Prototype in the No. 90 VisitFlorida.com Racing Corvette DP.

Westbrook hounded Jordan Taylor most of the race and was able to pass Taylor’s brother and co-driver Ricky in the last green flag pit stop sequence. The majority of the two-hour, 40-minute race was run without caution.

It marked the team’s first win of the season and fourth podium in as many races. Additionally, a different Corvette DP (Action Express Racing, Wayne Taylor Racing and now VisitFlorida.com Racing) has won each of the last three TUDOR Championship races.

The Taylor brothers finished second with Michael Shank’s Ligier JS P2 Honda of Ozz Negri and John Pew in third, scoring their first podium of the year.

Other class winners included RSR Racing (PC), BMW Team RLL (GTLM) and Park Place Motorsports (GTD).

The TUDOR Championship resumes in Detroit at the end of the month, with all classes except GTLM, which is off until Watkins Glen at the end of June due to the break for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
