Arguably he’s been one of the early-race passing stars this season, but thus far Stefano Coletti does not have the results to match his promise in the No. 4 KV Racing Technology Chevrolet.
He’ll be back at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week for the first time in nearly a decade.
You wouldn’t necessarily figure it considering he’s a rookie in the Verizon IndyCar Series, but Coletti is a past race winner on the IMS road course.
He captured a Formula BMW race win in 2006, on a slightly altered version of the IMS road course before the renovations ahead of last year’s inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis.
“I am very excited to get back in the car for the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis,” Coletti said in a team release.
“It’s a track that I’m more familiar with, having won there in 2006 when I was driving in Formula BMW, but there are some parts that have changed since I was there. I am sure the team and I will do a great job and that the result that we have been waiting for will finally come this weekend!”
Coletti set the fastest lap at Long Beach but thus far has results of 20th, 17th, 23rd and 19th in four races. He ranks 21st in points, with 41 points.
