Helio Castroneves fastest in final GP of Indy practice

Sebastien Bourdais missed it by *that* much.

The Frenchman was knocked off the top of the speed charts by Helio Castroneves claimed the fastest speed of the last Verizon IndyCar practice session for the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis with a last second lap of 1:10.3756.

Castroneves, who starts his 300th career IndyCar race on Saturday, swapped the P1 spot with Bourdais twice in the final two minutes of the session.

Bourdais, who won the first of the three practice sessions at IMS’ 14-turn road course, had a final time was 1:10.4013.

He was followed by Simon Pagenaud (1:10.4777), Will Power (1:10.5038) and Scott Dixon (1:10.5239), the winner of the second practice session on Thursday.

For the second practice in a row Graham Rahal of Rahal Letterman Lanigna Racing was the fastest Honda powered driver, finishing as the eight fastest at 1:11.0405. The next fastest Honda car was driven by Takuma Sato in 11th.

None of Andretti Autosports’ four cars cracked the top 15. Ryan Hunter Reay was the quickest in 16th at 1:11.4207.
