Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee to drive GP of Indy pace car

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck might be the big man on campus in the Circle City, but Indianapolis has another favorite son, the punter.

Pat McAfee, the Colts seventh-year punter, has been chosen to be the honorary pace car driver for Saturday’s Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

McAfee will be instructed in the art of pace car driving around IMS’ 14-turn, 3.439-mile road course by Arie Luyendyk. McAfee will be driving a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51.

“I’ve done some cool things around Indianapolis over the years but the opportunity to drive a Pace Car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has to be among the coolest,”  McAfee said in a release. “But it’s a serious job too, and I’m lucky to have a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner as my coach. I can’t wait to hit the track and learn all those left and right turns.”
