MONTMELO – After setting the pace during the second free practice session on Friday afternoon, Lewis Hamilton will arrive at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Saturday with his tail up as he goes in search of a second Spanish Grand Prix victory this weekend.

The defending world champion currently enjoys a 27-point lead at the top of the constructors’ championship, and is bidding to maintain his 100% pole position record in 2015 during today’s qualifying session (live on CNBC from 8am ET).

Saturday kicks off with the final free practice session, giving the teams one final hour in which to get their cars ands setups ready for the rest of the race weekend.

In the sister Mercedes, Nico Rosberg enjoyed a mixed Friday. Despite topping the first practice session ahead of Hamilton, the German driver lagged behind in third place during FP2, three-quarters of a second down on his teammate.

Ferrari has been lurking just behind Mercedes so far this weekend, but is yet to show any signs of a repeat of its shock win in Malaysia in March. Sebastian Vettel finished four-tenths of a second behind Hamilton at the top of the timesheets in FP2, and will be hoping to mount a more serious challenge during qualifying on Saturday.

Further back, McLaren and Toro Rosso appear to have made great progress since the last race in Bahrain, whilst Lotus and Force India may have slipped back thanks to the upgrades that other teams have brought to Barcelona.
