Sean Rayhall and 8Star Motorsports will get to continue their season at this week’s Freedom 100 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the team has confirmed Tuesday.
Rayhall assembled a crowd funding campaign, which raised more than $7,000 in a week.
Per the team, a mix of that funding and the support of several sponsors is sufficient enough for the team to go onto the Freedom for the second race weekend at IMS.
Rayhall won the second of two Indy Lights races on the IMS road course a little more than a week ago. He was part of the open test on the IMS oval on Monday.
“We are happy to have Sean in the car for the Freedom 100 and trust that we have the experience necessary to make it a memorable event,” said team principal Enzo Potolicchio in a release.
“Our partnership with Sean has been incredible and I’m glad we have been able to extend it for this legendary challenge. The GoFundMe campaign was a success, and I want to thank everyone who supported Sean for this event.”
Added Rayhall, “I am looking forward to the race and working very hard throughout the week to be ready on Friday. I’m happy that so many people supported us and gave me the opportunity to compete at such a legendary track for the Indy Lights Freedom 100.”
