Three-car accident involving Coletti, Hawksworth, Saavedra occurs in final 25 laps

INDIANAPOLIS – Jack Hawksworth, Stefano Coletti and Sebastian Saavedra have been involved in an accident on Lap 176, which puts the 99th Indianapolis 500 under its sixth yellow flag condition.

Contact between Hawksworth and Saavedra in Turn 4 sent them both into a spin, and both made heavy contact with the Turn 4 walls.

Coletti then ran into Saavedra’s car, and the rookie briefly caught air with the front of his car but was back on the ground shortly thereafter.

Hawksworth and Coletti have got out under their own power and per Race Control, Saavedra is now out of his car and being taken to a nearby safety car.

It puts the race under yellow with Will Power leading his Team Penske teammate Juan Pablo Montoya, with Scott Dixon, Carlos Munoz and Charlie Kimball the top five drivers.
