DETROIT – Worsening track conditions have prompted the cancellation of qualifying for today’s second race of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Presented by Quicken Loans, Round 8 of the Verizon IndyCar Series season.

Juan Pablo Montoya will have the pole position based on entrant points after Saturday’s Round 7.

Sage Karam, who had been fastest in his group, which ran in wet conditions that weren’t as bad as the ones faced by group two, will start much further back.

Karam had this to tweet:

Montoya, meanwhile, dropped the standard “it is what it is” line several times during the post-qualifying press conference.
