Formula 1 returns to Europe this weekend following its trip to Canada for the Austrian Grand Prix, with free practice one taking place on Friday morning.

Lewis Hamilton enters the race weekend in Spielberg with plenty of momentum, given that he currently leads the drivers’ championship by 17 points from Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg after his victory in Montreal.

However, the Briton admitted earlier this week that he wanted to “put things right” after failing to win in Austria last year, and will be keen to get off to a good start in practice on Friday.

It was Rosberg who denied Hamilton victory last year, charging from sixth place on the grid to take the lead of the race at the halfway stage and then hold the Briton off in the final few laps, becoming the first winner of the Austrian Grand Prix in 11 years.

The German driver will be hoping to call on this form once again this weekend, with wins in Spain and Monaco already under his belt in 2015.

Further back, Ferrari and Williams are poised to scrap over the final podium position once again, and could even get into the mix with Mercedes should circumstances arise or rain hit the Red Bull Ring.

The first indication of the pecking order will come in first practice, kicking off one of the most popular and unique race weekends of the 2015 F1 season.
