The Austrian Grand Prix may have only returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2014 after an 11-year absence, but it has already established itself as one of the most popular and unique races on the calendar.

Set in the heart of the Styrian mountains, the Red Bull Ring is arguably one of the most picturesque venues in global motorsport, even if the tranquility will soon be broken by the roaring V6 turbos of the F1 field.

The drivers will get their final chance to get in some practice ahead of qualifying on Saturday morning, and with rain looming, it could be a very interesting session.

Friday’s practice sessions saw Mercedes and Ferrari share top honors at the front of the field, suggesting that we could be in for a thrilling battle for pole position later on Saturday.

Nico Rosberg topped FP1 for Mercedes, but Ferrari hit back in FP2 as Sebastian Vettel finished fastest of all, even if he did lose a large amount of Friday running due to a recurring gearbox issue.

Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton struggled to find his rhythm, leaving him fifth by the end of the day in FP2 and with plenty of work to do on Saturday.
