Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen have both walked away unharmed from a frightening accident at the start of the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday.
Whilst fighting for position at the start of the race, Raikkonen appeared to get too much wheel spin coming out of turn two, causing him to lose control and jolt to the left and into the path of Alonso.
Alonso was pinned into the wall by Raikkonen’s uncontrollable car, causing the McLaren to move up and rest on the nose of the Ferrari as they continued to move along the side of the wall.
The cars came to rest with Raikkonen still stuck underneath Alonso, but fortunately neither driver was unharmed and both were able to jump out before returning to the pits on foot.
Unsurprisingly, the stewards confirmed that the incident would be investigated after the race to see if any blame can be apportioned to either driver.
