CFH Racing road and street course ace Luca Filippi and Andretti Autosport-affiliated driver Matthew Brabham will have their first formal oval running in an IndyCar on Wednesday at Iowa Speedway, per an IndyCar.com report.
Filippi has never driven on an oval even though he has spent parts of three seasons in the Verizon IndyCar Series, all as a specialist on the “twisties.” He’ll saddle up in his usual No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet, driven on ovals by team co-owner Ed Carpenter as it stands.
Brabham, meanwhile, drove the full 2014 Indy Lights and the opening three races this season with Andretti’s team and will have his first official day of running in Marco Andretti’s No. 27 Snapple Honda.
The INDYCAR rulebook allows for two days of rookie testing.
