IndyCar flashback: Hunter-Reay’s tire gamble pays dividends in Iowa (VIDEO)

As the Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Iowa Speedway later this week for the Iowa Corn 300, we take a quick look back to last year’s race.

Tony Kanaan dominated, leading 247 of the 300 laps.

But when a late caution flew and most of the field took new tires, the previously dominant “TK” was a sitting duck on the final restart. Ryan Hunter-Reay and Josef Newgarden blew past to produce an American 1-2, at what is currently the site of Hunter-Reay’s most recent victory.
