Report: F1 testing to be reduced in 2016

After having three preseason tests in recent years, it appears that that number will be cut to two for 2016.

Furthermore, the preseason tests could mark the only testing for all of next season.

An Autosport report out Tuesday indicates that a pair of tests at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, slated from March 1-4 and 15-18, is all that will occur next year.

In-season tests are also set to be cut, per the report.

Nothing formal has been decided by the FIA as yet, as a postseason test could still be on the table. A further decision would come later this year.

The 21-race provisional 2016 calendar was revealed earlier this month at the latest World Motor Sport Council meeting in Mexico, which will begin later than normal with the Australian Grand Prix slated for April 3.
