Lewis Hamilton enters final practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday morning chasing a clean sweep of sessions at the Hungaroring.

Hamilton, a four-time winner in Hungary, finished as the fastest driver in both FP1 and FP2 as Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg struggled to match the pace of his championship rival.

The British driver said on Friday that he thought Mercedes was looking strong in comparison to the rest of the field, and he will be hoping to underpin this in the final free practice session on Saturday morning.

Few of the teams were able to complete their Friday practice programmes in full thanks to three red flag periods, the first of which was sparked by a terrifying crash for Force India’s Sergio Perez.

Coming out of turn 11, Perez suffered a suspension failure that caused his car to spear into the wall on the right hand side of the track before coming to rest upside down on its roll bar.

Thankfully, Perez walked away unscathed, but the same could not be said of his car which sustained over $250,000 worth of damage in the shunt.

Force India will be hoping to get back in action for FP3 on Saturday morning after missing FP2 as a precaution, and it will be interesting to see how the pecking order begins to form in Hungary.
