Simona de Silvestro gets a Bathurst 1000 drive, too

Only days after being confirmed – at long last – for the 2015-2016 FIA Formula E Championship with the Amlin Andretti team, Simona de Silvestro has another confirmed ride: for her Bathurst 1000 debut.

The 26-year-old Swiss will be part of an all-female lineup for this year in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, sharing a Prodrive-prepared Ford Falcon with Australian driver Renee Gracie.

“I’d always kind of seen that racetrack and seen that race, and always wanted to be part of that,” de Silvestro said in a video released via the official V8 Supercars website.

“I was a pretty big fan. I followed V8 Supercars quite a lot. Bathurst was the first time I watched on TV. The Bathurst track looks really interesting, hilly and things like that.”

It adds a tin-top race to her electric racing exploits with Andretti, as well as the three IndyCar starts she’s made this year with the team.
