Charlie Kimball has been cleared from the medical centre at Pocono Raceway following a terrifying crash during qualifying for the ABC Supply 500 on Saturday afternoon, escaping with just a small cut to his chin.
After topping practice earlier in the day, Kimball recorded the fastest warm-up lap speed before beginning his first of two planned laps in qualifying.
Coming into turn three, the Ganassi driver lost the backend of his car before spinning into the wall nose-first.
His car then rode along the wall before catching some air and hitting the fencing with its rear before coming back down onto the track.
Remarkably, Kimball was unharmed, giving a thumbs up to the onlooking crowd before his car came to rest down by pit exit. He managed to get out of his car unaided, but was swiftly taken to the medical centre for a check-up due to the severity of the incident.
Kimball was quickly cleared, having suffered nothing more but a small cut on his chin.
His car, however, was less fortunate.
