On Lap 94 of the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway, Tristan Vautier tried to squeeze his way through on the inside to go three-wide and wound up wrecking Graham Rahal, who came into Pocono just nine points behind leader Juan Pablo Montoya.
Rahal immediately confronted Vautier after exiting his wreck car.
Later, Rahal spoke with NBCSN’s Robin Miller.
“Vautier decided to join party at last minute. He punted us. There’s not any space. He knows that. He sees that. He’s not known as the sharpest tool around here. He’s a part-timer. You know I’m in the hunt for the championship for Honda, in particular,” Rahal said. “The shame of today is when we were ahead of Montoya and Pagenaud we were better than them. They couldn’t keep up with us … When you’re back there with the squirrels, you’re bound to get your nuts cracked.”
