Meanwhile “T-Bell’s” partner-in-crime in the booth and fellow analyst, Paul Tracy, has also offered his thoughts in a column posted to MotorSport Magazine.
Tracy called Scott Dixon’s title run in the Sonoma finale a “classic performance,” as the Ice Man stayed cool, then seized the moment when Juan Pablo Montoya made a rare mistake, contacting teammate Will Power and hurting his title chances.
Of Montoya losing out on double points, Tracy writes, “After the race we heard some sour grapes from Juan about double points, but he certainly didn’t feel that way about getting double points at Indianapolis. Of course, you can argue until the cows come home about whether or not a 500-mile race or the season finale is worth double points.”
“PT” also touches on the caution for Luca Filippi which changed the completion of the Sonoma race, Penske losing another title and Ganassi winning another one, and what is to come for 2016 - namely, the respective futures of Honda and top IndyCar free agent Josef Newgarden.
He also touched on his second year with NBCSN, and his thoughts on how that went.
“We haven’t made an agreement, but I don’t see any reason why we won’t,” Tracy wrote. “I’ve managed not to swear on air and everything seems to be good. I think I add something to the broadcast and the fans seem to like what I have to say. I’m enjoying it so I hope I continue doing the job.”
