Report: NOLA out for 2016 IndyCar schedule

While we await tracks that will make the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule, one that won’t will be NOLA Motorsports Park, set to be dropped after just one year added to the calendar.

A report from The New Orleans Advocate indicated INDYCAR officials had informed the track it wouldn’t be part of the schedule.

“(IndyCar) didn’t go into a lot of details,” track president Kristen Engeron told The Advocate. “We are continuing to talk with them about getting us on the schedule for 2017 and the years after that.”

The race was plagued by bad weather, lower than expected attendance, and a number of caution flags.

It had been set up to be a multi-year deal; however, a lawsuit emerged by a subsidiary of Andretti Sports Marketing filed against the track claiming finances were owed.

Andretti Sports Marketing is now LST Marketing, and seeks to diversify its operations beyond simply motorsports.
