As the end of the 2015 Formula 1 season comes into sight, the paddock has ventured to the land of the rising sun this weekend for the Japanese Grand Prix.
The iconic Suzuka Circuit has played host to its fair share of championship deciders over the years, but in the era of swelling calendars, we are unlikely to see another Senna/Prost or Schumacher/Hakkinen showdown in the near future.
Nevertheless, it remains an important event in the countdown to Abu Dhabi as Lewis Hamilton bids to make up for his retirement in Singapore and claim his second straight win at Suzuka.
The Briton arrives in Japan with a 41 point advantage over Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg at the top of the championship standings, but after Sebastian Vettel’s victory in Singapore, the German team has been left slightly rattled.
Mercedes’ fears were not helped by a washout in practice on Friday, limiting teams to just one hour of dry running on Saturday morning ahead of today’s qualifying session.
However, Rosberg and Hamilton made a strong statement in the little time they had by charging to a one-two finish as Ferrari and Red Bull failed to match the pace of the Mercedes drivers in FP3.
The battle is set to rage on in qualifying at Suzuka on Saturday, so be sure to join us for all of the action.
