Race Recap: Hamilton emulates Senna with Suzuka win

After growing up idolizing the late, great Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton finally emulated his hero on Sunday at Suzuka by claiming his 41st grand prix victory and taking a huge step towards winning a third world title.

Hamilton was braced for a close fight with Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in Japan after the Mercedes duo locked out the front row of the grid, with the German taking pole.

However, when Hamilton squeezed Rosberg out at turn one and forced the pole-sitter to fall back to fourth, the race was over. Win #41 became nothing more than a formality as Hamilton controlled proceedings, leading all 53 laps.

Throughout the field, though, there was plenty of action as Fernando Alonso got angry with Honda, Ferrari edged out Williams, and the Toro Rosso rookies duelled on track once again.

The NBCSN team recaps all of the action from Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix in the above video.
