Their fathers enjoyed a fierce rivalry in Formula 1 during the 1970s, but Freddie Hunt (pictured) and Mathias Lauda will now race alongside each other as teammates for the 2016 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season.

James Hunt and Niki Lauda’s battle for the 1976 F1 world championship is widely regarded as being one of the most dramatic in the history of the sport, and was the subject of Ron Howard’s film Rush, released in 2013.

Both of their sons have continued to race, and will now be teammates in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, the premier NASCAR championship in Europe that takes drivers to tracks such as Brands Hatch, Valencia and Zolder.

Hunt and Lauda will both pilot a Chevrolet run by DF1 Racing, for whom Lauda has raced over the past two seasons, claiming one race win.
