Hinchcliffe named honorary chairman of Rev 2016

IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe has been named the honorary chairman of Rev 2016.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced that the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver will be part of the fundraising event for the Methodist Health Foundation in Indianapolis on May 7

“It really is a thrill for me to be partnering with Rev this year,” said Hinchcliffe in a press release. “I can’t believe how it has grown into a must-attend event in just two years.”

Hinchcliffe was taken to Methodist Hospital last May when he was injured in a crash during practice for the Indianapolis 500. Hinchcliffe went through same-day surgery and his recovery efforts at the hospital.

“Obviously, the cause is one that’s close to all drivers but especially for me after the year I had,” Hinchcliffe said. “We look forward to growing the event even bigger and better.”

Rev, which is presented by Fifth Third Bank, is the largest fundraiser supporting Indiana University Health’s statewide trauma programs. At this year’s event, almost $400,000 was raised. The event involves music, entertainment and food inspired by drivers.

Tickets for the May 7 event go on sale on Dec. 1.
