McLaren Honda won’t have Tag Heuer as a partner next season, as Tag Heuer’s CEO has confirmed a move to Red Bull Racing for 2016.
“It’s a young, dynamic and go-getter team, perfectly matching the strategy of TAG Heuer,” Tag Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver told Swiss magazine L’Hebdo, also confirming the brand’s switch.
It brings to the end a 30-year run with McLaren, dating to the McLaren TAG Porsche era starting in 1985.
“It has lasted 30 years, during which time both parties have achieved enormous success together,” Biver said.
McLaren has announced Chandon as a new partner for 2016, but has otherwise run devoid of major sponsorship throughout this season.
