One of open-wheel racing’s brightest stars in the late 1990s and early 2000s was Kenny Brack, who won the 1998 IndyCar championship (then under the Indy Racing League moniker), the 1999 Indianapolis 500 and a number of races in the CART series in 2001 to 2002.
A devastating accident at Texas Motor Speedway in 2003 should have ended his career, but instead led to a one-off comeback in the 2005 Indianapolis 500, substituting for Buddy Rice.
