What’s wrong with a little 165-170 mph action in an Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Dallara IL15-Mazda going into Turn 1 at Phoenix International Raceway? Absolutely nothing.
Andretti Autosport’s Shelby Blackstock has tested there this week and posted this teaser video, below, of how the Indy Lights cars will look going away into Turn 1.
Blackstock, a five-year veteran of the Mazda Road to Indy who has raced in all three rungs (Indy Lights, Pro Mazda, USF2000), will be back with Andretti for his second season in Indy Lights this season.
Indy Lights also makes its return to PIR next year along with the Verizon IndyCar Series on April 2; it will mark the first Indy Lights race at the track since the-then Infiniti Pro Series raced there in 2005, a race won by of all people, Jon Herb.
