In advance of a potential new FIA Formula 2 series, which could launch from 2017, FIA Formula 2’s technical breakdown was revealed on Monday.
The would-be F2 series was formalized following the latest meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council earlier this month.
For all intents and purposes, the differences are minimal, but arguably the biggest difference for F2 being that it will include a hybrid system, whereas GP2 does not. The F2 series, with a hybrid system, would then follow with the hybrid technology in Formula 1.
Also, F2 requires a Grade B license for drivers, while GP2 requires a Grade A license.
