Ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica will take part in the first round of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship in Monte-Carlo later this month.
Kubica moved into rallying after suffering an injury to his right arm in 2011 that ended his single-seater career, but hinted last year that he was interested in a return to circuit racing.
The Pole said that he was unsure which WRC events - if any - he would enter in 2016, telling Autosport: “Next year is the time to have something different and probably end up doing some different things and maybe the rally as well.”
However, ahead of the prestigious Rallye Monte-Carlo later this month, Kubica’s self-backed entry has been confirmed in the premier class. The Pole will pilot a Ford Fiesta RS World Rally Car alongside co-driver Maciej Szczepaniak.
Defending world champion Sebastien Ogier once again heads the entry list, and will be hoping to begin his bid for a fourth WRC title in style on January 21.
