Have you ever dreamed of being the owner of an Indianapolis 500-winning car?
Well have I got some very expensive news for you.
In about two years you can. The car that Ryan Hunter-Reay drove in his 2014 Indy 500 win over Helio Castroneves is going to be auctioned off by Gooding & Company at the end of the month in Scottsdale, Arizona. The team made it official today following reports earlier this week that this would be sold.
If you have anywhere from $600,000 to $750,000, you will be able to lay claim to Chassis DW12-057, which beat Helio Castroneves’ by 0.060 seconds, the second-closest finish in Indy 500 history.
The person with the winning bid will receive the car when it is retired, which is expected following the 2018 season. The car will then be restored to its form from when Hunter-Reay took it to victory lane, complete with the body kit it used.
Now go search through the couch cushions for loose change. It’s going to take a lot of pennies to make your dream come true.
