You can’t ever really read too much into Twitter Q&As - oftentimes drivers just answer questions with hopes they may one day be able to pull off the goal that they’d like to do.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. extending an invitation to Daniel Ricciardo for a NASCAR Xfinity Series road course race in a JR Motorsports entry, James Hinchcliffe admitting he’d like to try NASCAR on a road course, and Kyle Larson teasing what he would look like in an IndyCar are but three examples.

Add Kasey Kahne driving an IndyCar to the roster of “we’d love to see it happen but there’s not much chance it will” type of items.

During a chat on the Phoenix International Raceway Twitter account, Kahne said one of the things he’d like to try is an IndyCar, and maybe at PIR.

As you’d expect IndyCar’s Twitter account to do, they offered up an open invite.

Kahne has a win on the Phoenix mile before, in what was Red Bull Racing’s final NASCAR Sprint Cup win in November 2011.

He’s also got past open-wheel experience, having grown up on short tracks and then running three Formula Atlantic races in 2001, with a best finish of seventh place on a street course in Houston.

Is this going to happen anytime soon? No, probably not. But it’s cool to see the interest is still there from the 35-year-old out of Enumclaw, Wash., who hasn’t forgotten his roots.
