Dump me once, shame on you. Dump me twice, and I’ll get you back.
That’s apparently what motorcycle rider Weston Peick did in Saturday’s Monster Energy Supercross Series’ season opener – the 2016 Anaheim (California) One SX race at Angels Stadium.
In a heat race earlier in the evening, Vince Friese dumped Peick in what appeared to be a legitimate racing incident. But when the two got together again later on in the semifinal round, Peick wasn’t going to take it for a second time.
After both riders went down, Peick rose to his feet and began pummeling Friese’s head with a number of punches.
To his credit, Friese took the punches without retaliating and eventually climbed back on his bike, apparently no worse for the wear (even though he failed to qualify for the main event later that night).
Peick, on the other hand, was parked for the rest of the night, disqualified from the event and then issued a one-race suspension and a $5,000 fine by the American Motorcyclist Association, according to a report by motocross.transworld.net.
Peick will sit out this weekend’s 2016 San Diego SX, according to the report.
