There will be another change to the FIA Formula E Championship grid ahead of the next round in Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 6.
Nathanael Berthon and Team Aguri have gone for the “mutual parting of ways” route, after the opening three rounds of the series. Berthon scored an eighth place in the season opener in Beijing but hadn’t scored since.
“We would like to thank Nathanael for his dedication to the team and wish him the very best in his future Formula E career. We are carefully considering our options and will announce his replacement in due course,” said Team Aguri principal Mark Preston.
Berthon added, “I am determined, more than ever, to continue my career in Formula E and I would like to thank Team Aguri for giving me a start in the series. I am confident I will race and score points in the Paris ePrix on April 23.”
Despite a rule change for season two that would limit driver changes, it’s already been a somewhat fluid market with Jacques Villeneuve also parting ways with his Venturi team - perhaps unsurprisingly.
Oliver Rowland filled in for Nick Heidfeld at Mahindra in Uruguay, Round 3 of the season, and the Trulli team never even took part in a race, with its chassis not up to par. Trulli had a driver change though with Jarno Trulli set to replace Salvador Duran, had the team raced in Round 2 in Malaysia.
Berthon’s departure means the Aguri and Venturi seats will have new drivers prior to Round 4 at Buenos Aires.
