Ahead of June’s revived European Grand Prix in Azerbaijan, the promoters of the Baku City Circuit have today released a video preview of the track that will be used.
It was announced in the summer of 2014 that F1 would be venturing to Azerbaijan for the first time in 2016, with Baku being awarded the European Grand Prix.
A circuit around the streets of Azerbaijan’s capital has been designed by Hermann Tilke, incorporating many of the city’s most historic and iconic sites.
The track promises to be the fastest street circuit on the calendar, but also features some particularly tight corners that could catch drivers out. Check out the video above to see what it will look like.
The promoters recently announced that over 80% of the required road works to prepare for the race have now taken place, with the finishing touches being put to the track in the coming weeks and months.
“The closer the race the more excitement and joy we will see,” head of marketing for Baku City Circuit Nigar Arpadarai said.
“We have mobilized all our resources to deliver the major motorsport event of this kind in Baku on the weekend of 17-19 June 2016.”
