Sebastien Loeb tends to kick rear ends and take names whenever he gets behind a rally car, whatever the discipline.

So we’ll see whether he does so again in this year’s FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy season, which he’s signed up for today.

Loeb, 42, will be part of a two-car Peugeot 208 WRX Supercar effort at Team Peugeot-Hansen, with teammate Timmy Hansen.

“I’m very excited by this opportunity to participate in the full FIA World Rallycross Championship for the first time,” Loeb said in a release.

“Over the years I have been fortunate to participate in some truly amazing racing, but rallycross - with the sheer power and the competiveness of the Peugeot 208 WRX plus the intense nature of the competition - will be something very special.

“The car and the strategy for this type of racing is completely new to me, so I have a lot to learn, but I hope I can be competitive pretty soon.”

He’s a nine-time FIA World Rally champion and also won several stages of this year’s Dakar Rally in his debut. He’s also raced in sports cars, including at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Along with Ken Block, he’s a fairly high profile name in the World Rallycross championship.

Here’s him racing on ice, below.
