A stray dog birthed a litter of puppies at IMS last week

From the “this is cute but not-really-in-any-other-way related to motorsports except for where it happened” file, a stray dog managed to give birth to a litter of puppies at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last week.

IMS posted a photo on Friday of the dog and her litter, which was made possible thanks to the support of the Humane Society of Indianapolis.

Names match up nicely with IMS history. The mother dog’s name is Mari - close to Mari Fendrich Hulman and Mari Hulman George of the family history at the Speedway - and then the litter of pups are Danica, Lyn, Marco, Dario and Helio in reference to Danica Patrick, Lyn St. James, Marco Andretti, Dario Franchitti and Helio Castroneves.

We await the puppies’ growth and development with keen interest.

No word on whether they’ll have aero kits to test or a super speedway aerodynamic configuration as they leave IMS and head onto their next adventures in life.
