It’s not really a surprise after his incredible run to sixth place and a debut points finish for Haas F1 Team, but it’s still cool that it’s official – Romain Grosjean has been confirmed as the first Driver of the Day in F1 voting this year.
One of the new honors to be bestowed this year, Grosjean was well clear of the field, once it became apparent that only a single vote per user would be cast.
F1 released that note this morning: “* Note – in the interests of fairness, multiple votes identified as originating from the same source were not counted.”
That comes after what had been a lopsided total in favor of Manor Racing’s Rio Haryanto. You can see how that got to where it was from this thread on Twitter, below:
