Audi’s challenger and new livery for the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship has been formally revealed on Tuesday, following on from its initial - brief - launch in late November.
The fully new Audi R18, which departs a bit from the previous generation Audi R18 e-tron quattro, has a far more radical aerodynamic profile, new safety cell and battery-operated hybrid system for the V6 TDI engine. It seeks to be more efficient than last year’s car.
Audi won the opening two rounds of last year’s FIA WEC at Silverstone and Spa but watched as Porsche seized the momentum and dominated the remainder of the season from the 24 Hours of Le Mans onwards.
